Holiday Shows, tis the season to be drunk and merry!

I love Christmas time (ask any of my friends, I annoy them about it on a daily basis). Whether you’re making “special” ginger bread cookies, or caroling after drinking an entire bottle of eggnog, maybe that’s just us, Christmas always brings the joy out in people. Another thing I love about Christmas – the music. Yes, I am a sucker for Christmas music – especially live! Here are some Christmas shows in the Brooklyn area that you definitely want to try and make it out to…

The Shalitas, an all girl doo-wop trio, originally started as back up singers for the Philadelphia acclaimed band Marah. However, these girls got too much soul to be anyone’s back up.  They have a soulful, fun-loving, shoo-bop-de-bop sound that grasped attention of listeners and got themselves their own gigs. The Shalitas’ debut performance was in 2006 at Brooklyn’s own North Six. I’m lovin’ these girls, especially their Christmas tracks! These girls got spunk, soul, and a lot of Christmas spirit. They will be starring in The Shalita Christmas Spectacular on December 11 at the Knitting Factory. Special appearances will also be made from Nicole Atkins and Jordan Craig (of SnowDen), The Nouvelias, Kendra Morris, and Cudzoo And The Faggettes. You can hear The Shalitas’ “Christmas With The Snow” on their myspace page(linked above). Doors open at 7, and only $10 at the door! GO GO GO!

The Rock Shop is hosting their first annual Holiday Party December 18th. Milagres is said to be playing, and they made a big splash in CMJ this year. Not much information is out about it, but it seems cool so why not, right!? Alcohol, food, christmas music, and happy people – count me in.

The Holiday’s are a time to reminisce in old memories and past traditions. Toughpigs.com is hosting The Muppet Vault: Christmas, a holiday party for “Muppet fans who grew up” at the Knitting Factory December 19. It’s celebration of all that is Muppet, with a screening of the classic A Muppet Family Christmas, drink specials, prizes, and sing-a-longs. Everyone is welcome: families, adults, kids, and anyone else who wants to join in on the holiday fun. The show will begin at 2 pm, with a $ 7 cover charge.
