Have The Grammy’s Finally Given in to Good Music?

It seems it’s taken 53 years, but The Grammy’s held on Sunday actually hosted and awarded good music. First, the performance by Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers, and Bob Dylan was unbelievable, to say the least. Instruments were even played, that’s like Grammy anarchy! Mumford & Sons, especially, blew away the audience. That band contains more passion in one verse of their songs than most musicians put in an album, or a career. That whole performance was perfect, even with Bob Dylan’s raspy mumble-jumble version of Maggies Farm, but either way it’s Bob Fucking Dylan.

And um, did I mention Arcade Fire!? That album, The Suburbs, deserves everything it got. It’s clever, it’s catchy, it’s smart, it’s perfect. Arcade Fire winning Best Album Of The Year is like a music industry revolution. And all this shit about them “selling out” is probably one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard. Their previous albums were also amazing, but this one was better and it deserves attention. Yes, $5 basement shows are awesome, and those are the things I live for, but artists this good deserve recognition. They deserve it more than Katy Perry’s whip-cream shooting tits, and the pre-ball-dropping Biebers of the world.
